As of April 2021 It is a mandatory requirement from the SIA for all Door Supervisors to have a refresher/ top-up course every three years. This comprises three units:
Here at Burgeonton Academy we adhere to the conditions for delivery and assessment as listed in the SIA “Introduction to Learning Leading Towards License-linked Qualifications. Requirements for Awarding Organisations/ Bodies and Training Providers” and the Centre Guide for Security Qualifications.
Assessment for the units is by practical demonstration by the learner and audio video recorded by the assessor and externally set and marked multiple choice question paper.
To become a door supervisor with SIA ( Security Industry Authority) in the UK, learners typically need to meet certain requirements, including being at least 18 years old, having the right to work in the UK, and passing a criminal record check.
Learners will also need to have an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification valid for at least 1 year at the time of the course commencing. If the qualification is valid for less than a year the learner will have the option to opt in for the EFAW course alongside their door supervisor course.
Once you've booked your training course with us, you will receive a welcome pack including your joining instructions. You will be required to fill in the enrolment form and read the required material in your own time. After reading the materials provided you will then need to complete our online assessment. You are required to complete ACT Awareness and ACT Security and generate the certificates after successful completion. You will need to provide the ACT modules certificates to us to confirm the distance learning has been completed before/ on the day of your training. On the day of your upskilling course, you will be taught the PI (Physical Intervention) and will be examined from the contents of PI and use of communication devices which will be video recorded. There will be three multiple choice exams by the end of the training on day two.
The door supervisor up-skilling training course with physical intervention is designed at level two. The course elaborates on information all learners should have basic understanding due to already having a valid SIA licence. All of our instructors are dedicated in providing the best support where required during the course programme.
In most of the cases you would not be required to send your original documents if you are renewing your license or applying to get a new license, however, we would advise you to have a look at the regulator’s website i.e. SIA to find out the latest policy in vogue
In 2021 the old SIA door supervisor qualification changed and three new modules were added in the new SIA door supervision training Course. The additional modules have been put in place for all door supervisors to be better equipped with the relevant skills and knowledge to identify and tackle serious situations successfully.
